My long involvement at Nous could really only loosely be described as “work”. I am fortunate to be able to spend my time with very interesting clients to help them address fascinating challenges. I am motivated by knowing that the outcome of my efforts will positively influence our society. Who wouldn’t love to do that all day?
Alison’s work focuses on information management, technology and strategy. Her key skills are successful delivery of projects, liaison with clients and development of strategy for information quality. Alison has broad experience across several industry sectors: education, financial services, manufacturing, security/intelligence and law enforcement. Her particular interest is in the health and human services sector.
Project experience
Over several years with Nous, Alison has completed a series of large information management projects, particularly those that involve high level interviews and complex strategic thinking.
Information management
- Alison managed the successful delivery of a year-long project to develop a business case for a major information management system involving Australian state, territory and federal government law enforcement agencies. Extensive stakeholder consultations and work with staff in every jurisdiction was conducted to develop the business case. The project involved assessment of data sharing options and economic benefits to determine net potential impact on government services, business, recreation and tourism. The outcome was a robust business case and information model aligned to strategic objectives and overall stakeholder needs, supported by evidence with cost estimations and system recommendations.
Project management
- Alison has worked with a large Victorian health sector organisation to strategically project manage a four year rollout of digital mammography technology across Victorian breast screening sites. This role involved development of project scope, detailed project plan, governance arrangements, risk profile management, key support and procurement processes, a benefits realisation plan and an evaluation framework.
Other achievements
- developed a benefit management plan for a major ICT case management system in a large Victorian Government department
- reviewed accounts processing practices for a major health insurance organisation to deliver process efficiencies and improvements in the use of current and forthcoming technology
- developed a knowledge management strategy for a government department of 50,000 staff covering the portfolio of policy development, service delivery, research and resource management functions
- designed a capability framework to prepare a service organisation of 1,500 for the implementation of standardised project management methodology with an implementation plan
- strategically reviewed systems and processes in a service and risk management division of a large Victorian organisation to assess alignment between work processes, legislated program requirements and system functionality
- mapped core business functions to identify information management issues and developed an ICT strategy for a division of a federal agency managing a multi-billion dollar budget
- evaluated a government department strategy to create a strong performance and development culture in Victorian schools
- strategically reviewed and developed a business case and implementation plan for a corporate information service and a corporate intranet
- developed a technology strategy for a division of 1,000 staff in a Victorian organisation.

Interests
Alison's colleagues describe her as a well organised, highly disciplined and process focussed consultant. To balance this, in her leisure time, she maintains her passion and energises through her love of music, movies, bush-walking, keeping fit, dance and travel.
