Project experience

Over several years with Nous, Alison has completed a series of large information management projects, particularly those that involve high level interviews and complex strategic thinking.

Information management

• Alison managed the successful delivery of a year-long project to develop a business case for a major information management system involving Australian state, territory and federal government law enforcement agencies. Extensive stakeholder consultations and work with staff in every jurisdiction was conducted to develop the business case. The project involved assessment of data sharing options and economic benefits to determine net potential impact on government services, business, recreation and tourism. The outcome was a robust business case and information model aligned to strategic objectives and overall stakeholder needs, supported by evidence with cost estimations and system recommendations.

Project management

  • Alison has worked with a large Victorian health sector organisation to strategically project manage a four year rollout of digital mammography technology across Victorian breast screening sites. This role involved development of project scope, detailed project plan, governance arrangements, risk profile management, key support and procurement processes, a benefits realisation plan and an evaluation framework.

Other achievements

  • developed a benefit management plan for a major ICT case management system in a large Victorian Government department
  • reviewed accounts processing practices for a major health insurance organisation to deliver process efficiencies and improvements in the use of current and forthcoming technology
  • developed a knowledge management strategy for a government department of 50,000 staff covering the portfolio of policy development, service delivery, research and resource management functions
  • designed a capability framework to prepare a service organisation of 1,500 for the implementation of standardised project management methodology with an implementation plan
  • strategically reviewed systems and processes in a service and risk management division of a large Victorian organisation to assess alignment between work processes, legislated program requirements and system functionality
  • mapped core business functions to identify information management issues and developed an ICT strategy for a division of a federal agency managing a multi-billion dollar budget
  • evaluated a government department strategy to create a strong performance and development culture in Victorian schools
