Our leadership programs are designed with an understanding that the best learning is achieved through active participation and application. Nous' approach is informed by a marriage of experience, analytical rigour and quirky lateralism (or more soberly, innovation). All of Nous' leadership development work is underpinned by an approach that we call Active Realism -
- Active in that leaders must personally engage in the development process - they cannot simply observe or analyse, but must work to be part of the leadership opportunities and solutions. Our programs are active in that we encourage participants to actively address the challenges and issues that individually confront them; and those that they should aim to actively change or address within their organisation.
- Real in that the leadership development should directly address the specific values and behaviours of the individual leader, and confront each leader with others' experience of their leadership; and real in that it should press leaders to always consider the very real demands and needs of their organisation - its strategic direction, history and culture, customers' demands and followers' needs and expectations.

Nous crafts executive development with the understanding that effective leaders can significantly shape their organisations, but their leadership style is in turn strongly shaped by the organisation; both its strategic intent and the context. Nous works with organisations to develop workplace climates where all staff can work with dignity and respect and have positive workplace experiences. Middle management leadership programs
Nous consultants work with organisations to develop their middle managers and leaders in two ways. One, we deliver tailored programs that ensure middle managers become powerful system and process integrators at the heart of an organisation’s success. Secondly, we work on core development of management and leadership skills to drive the performance of their people and the organisation; building capability, and growth and renewal. Nous partners with organisations to design and deliver world class graduate development. We work with key people in the organisation with the aim of developing programs that contribute to a competitive edge in the graduate job market. Nous’ customised programs are flexible, experiential and integrated to ensure the organisation gets the most out of its graduate development investment.
The Nous graduate offering has a strong focus on developing the capability of emerging leaders alongside building the capacity of existing managers and leaders to ‘show the way’. The graduate experience is strongly influenced by the leadership culture of an organisation. Equipping managers and leaders to teach, mentor, coach and guide new recruits is an essential ingredient in the successful development of graduates.
