Some graduate success stories
I joined Nous immediately after graduating from a combined Bachelor of Commerce/Arts degree at the University of Melbourne.
Why did I choose Nous?
Having researched numerous management consultancies and contacted people in the field, I felt that Nous’ value proposition articulated precisely what I was looking for:
- the chance to work on things that matter
- a consultant position and real work from day one, not an anonymous back office role
- structured professional development that allows me to progress at my pace, not with a 'class' of grads on a pre-determined pathway.
Working here has proven that the organisation’s values are genuinely lived and breathed.
What am I working on?
As a consultant in the organisational capability practice, the project work I have been doing is a bit like being a health practitioner for organisations – consulting with employees and diagnosing what the organisation’s internal ailments are. This has involved some interviewing of stakeholders and running of focus groups, and predominantly dissecting themes and key findings from masses on information for input into a client report.
What’s most rewarding about life at Nous?
Working with senior people - colleagues and clients. This can be challenging as a young person, but Nous pushes me to develop and improve.
The responsibility and autonomy bestowed on me from day one. By my 3rd week I had project management responsibilities.
Finding ways to improve organisations that provide important services to our community.
Working at Nous allows me to learn enduring skills and lessons from a vibrant and eclectic group of people, who bring intelligent viewpoints to any discussion.
But for me, the single most rewarding thing about Nous is being treated as a colleague, not a grad, and seen as an important part of a project/proposal team (I’ve already been sent along to pitch a couple of times).
As a graduate I was looking for a job that provided variety, challenge and excitement. I had completed a combined Bachelor of Business / Bachelor of Laws and then set off to the Philippines to work as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development. This experience reinforced my desire to have a positive influence on the world around me. When I came across Nous, it ticked all these boxes and I decided it was the place for me.
In all regards I have not been disappointed! Since starting with Nous I have been involved in stimulating work with clients who make a positive impact and colleagues who are as inspiring as they are intelligent. Nous is an organisation that really lives it values, which makes it not only an enjoyable place to work, but also one that really cares about and invests in its staff. Nous already facilitates and supports my professional development in a way that is tailored to my needs.
So far I have worked across financial services, utilities and numerous government departments – all in just a month! One thing that really sets Nous apart as a great place to work is that from day one you are given responsibility and autonomy while still being provided with all the support you need to develop.
I already feel at home at Nous!
