Senior Consultant

Nous Group is seeking senior consultants to join our business strategy and public policy teams in our Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra or Perth offices.

Selection criteria

  • Depth of public policy experience and interest in strategy:
    • specific expertise in social policy/economics/climate change is desirable
    • demonstrated flexibility across policy domains, and possibly government departments
    • key contributor to meaningful public policy outcomes in recent roles
    • commitment to high quality public outcomes
    • sound networks in government
  • 10+ years’ experience working within consulting, government or major corporate organisations
  • Ability to apply structured thinking and appropriate frameworks to analyse clients’ problems and provide practical solutions
  • Ability to lead, scope, and complete consulting assignments profitably
  • Ability to ‘see the big picture’, draw out the insights and to ensure the analysis and recommendations are logical and correct
  • Great people skills – working with clients and other Nous consultants.

Expectations of the successful candidate

Win business

  • Win business within existing Nous and own networks
  • Introduce existing relationships to Nous
  • Contribute and lead tenders and proposals
  • Build, maintain and grow client relationships
  • Credibility with senior executives.

Deliver projects

  • Strong contribution to project content and direction
  • Lead medium to large sized projects
  • Work autonomously and support the development of team members
  • Ensure collaborative approach to project delivery.

Develop products

  • Support practice area initiatives
  • Establish a broad knowledge of all Nous offerings
  • Identify and develop IP for new business offers when appropriate.

Develop Nous capability

  • Focus on the development of the project team (esp. consultant level)
  • Build personal capacity to assume greater client responsibility
  • Assume Nous internal responsibilities
  • Develop project director expertise and mentoring capabilities.
