Strategic input into Commonwealth reporting agency’s operation
Client
The COAG Reform Council (the council or CRC) has been established by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) as part of the arrangements for federal financial relations to assist COAG to drive its reform agenda. The CRC is independent of individual governments and reports directly to COAG on reforms of national significance that require cooperative action by Australian governments.
Situation
The CRC had two key challenges:
- Component 1: Build a conceptual framework to address the council’s task to highlight examples of good practice and performance.
- Component 2: Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and a performance evaluation system to measure the performance of the council.
Solution
The CRC engaged Nous to develop these two separate and distinct components of work to inform their strategic plan. For each component, Nous considered and developed different possible frameworks to guide the council. These frameworks were then workshopped extensively with different members of the council from those drafting CRC reports through to the chair and deputy chair. Based on this work, Nous provided specific recommendations in relation to both components.
