Duane works across the private, public and not for profit sectors. He has strong experience in the human services and education sectors but also works across financial services and transport.

Project experience

Program design

  • designed and facilitated a two day leadership workshop for rollout across an internationally recognised low cost airline, as part of a structured learning pathway. The workshop had a particular focus on strategy, engagement, motivation, development and coaching for frontline and middle management.
  • designed and delivered an effective complaints resolution strategy to help change the complaints handling and customer service culture across a large federal government service delivery agency. The number of complaints were reduced below organisational target levels as part of the 2009/10 corporate objective.
  • designed a custom learning strategy for rural school leaders in Victoria to identify and leverage unique opportunities in their environment and maximise student learning outcomes.

Facilitation

  • facilitated several leadership conferences to groups of 80 to 100+ people to build a positive workplace environment and a culture of quality in two large federal human services agencies
  • facilitated a strengths-based team building and development workshop for a state service authority
  • delivered program of change workshops as a senior national trainer, over ten months, to introduce a new operating environment and culture that transformed the customers' experience
  • facilitated individual 360 debriefs for leaders in the insurance industry.

Project management

  • managed successful implementation and co-developed new learning strategies for new starters in the Department of Human Services, tailoring for new service delivery structures and blended learning approaches
  • project managed and co-designed a leadership development program for a superannuation provider, incorporating seven workshop days and the Human Synergistics LSI diagnostic
  • project managed a three cohort graduate development program for a national government department, including the MBTI diagnostic
  • managed key stakeholder relationships across national networks to ensure optimal outcomes.

Past employment

Duane has worked for a number of years as a national training manager within the Department of Human Services. He has also worked as a secondary teacher with a London Business & Enterprise College and in a Melbourne secondary college.

Interests

Duane is a keen musician and regularly plays in a symphony orchestra. He loves the arts, travel, outdoor activities and seeking new adventures.
