Contact Kristen Hedgecoe
Kristen works predominantly in the environment and utilities sector, with experience across the energy sector and both rural and urban water. She also works with clients in health and human services, education and economic development, and transport and infrastructure.
Project experience
Public policy development
Kristen has a nuanced understanding of the public sector derived from her experience working in and with government. Kristen’s recent policy experience includes:
- six months as senior advisor in PM&C’s Strategy and Delivery Division, managing the inter-departmental taskforce on Murray-Darling Basin reform
- review of the policy development process of a state government policy statement and identification of options for improvement
- design and development of a five day policy training course for the Victorian Government
- mapping and development of policy options for greenhouse gas abatement for a government department.
Strategy development and facilitation
Kristen’s experience in strategy development and facilitation includes:
- large scale scenario planning exploring viable futures for the coal sector in Victoria, with products used by government and industry to inform decision-making
- working with two large agricultural sector organisations to develop a strategic collaboration
- facilitation of workshops with senior personnel from the Department of Defence, focused on building capabilities necessary for productive relationships with Ministers and their offices
- facilitation of strategic planning for a not-for-profit theatre group and the delivery of a report outlining strategic options
- facilitation of strategic planning for a national not-for-profit energy sector organisation
- strategic planning for a leading national not for profit telephone counselling service
- facilitation of an exploratory summit on the topic of employment opportunities arising from sustainability movements and delivery of a publicly released report.

Past employment
Prior to joining Nous, Kristen worked at Victoria Legal Aid, the Department of Transport and Regional Services (Cth) and the Commonwealth Bank Legal Department. She performed a variety of roles including policy and quality officer, communications officer, and team leader.
Interests
Kristen loves words, gardening and animals. She enjoys new challenges - the latest is learning to speak French.
