Leanne Wallace

Leanne is a health and human services policy expert. She also spent over 30 years in the NSW public sector with executive and senior management experience in governance, health and human services policy, corporate services, workforce reform, information management, nature conservation and natural resource management.

Project experience

Public policy development and implementation

• Led a number of evaluation projects in the areas of breast cancer and disability services
• Conducted courses on The Policy Process for the NSW Institute of Public Administration.

Organisational design and review

• Advised several NSW Government agencies on major organisational redesign projects
• Undertook an organisational review for the Chief Health Officer in NSW and the Centre for Epidemiology and Research
• Led the Nous review of data and information management at the Department of Community Services (NSW) and a scoping review of corporate services for the Department of Human Services (NSW)
• Led key culture change projects as part of a comprehensive organisational transformation project for the Australian Navy.

Strategy development and facilitation

• Led the development of strategies for a range of organisations including the Australian Institute of Policy Management, Arts NSW and the NSW Department of Industry & Investment
• Worked with Nous colleagues to facilitate strategic planning sessions for the NSW Department of Health, the Attorney General’s Department and the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and Arts.

• Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors
• Board Chair, Jannawi Family Centre – a not-for-profit organisation providing a bilingual support service for families with young children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and for families with children at risk.

Past employment

Prior to Nous, Leanne served for 30 years in the NSW public sector, including serving as Deputy Director-General, Public Sector Workforce Office, Department of Premier and Cabinet.  Previous executive positions included five years with the NSW Department of Health, five years with the Department of Land and Water Conservation and nine years in a range of corporate, technical and policy roles at the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.

Interests

Originating from country NSW, Leanne is now very much a city girl, enjoying all that Sydney has to offer – good food, art and entertainment. She relaxes by spending time with family and friends – including playing some golf and cooking.
