Maryann Hazard

Maryann has a deep understanding of public administration, having worked in central government, transport, human services and social inclusion agencies.  She has practical experience in the government sector, across state and commonwealth jurisdictions, and has partnered with non‑government and private organisations across a diversity of industries providing advice on government relations and on business, governance and organisational capability. Maryann has also worked with regulatory agencies, the not for sector, transport and infrastructure, human services and central government.

Project experience

Governance and reform

• Redesigned the strategy and operations of a complex globally dispersed organisation with a distributed presence across 60 countries
• Architected the redesign of a large scale inspectorate workforce in line with a new legislative environment
• Managed the machinery of government changes for a super department
• Successfully redesigned the organisational architecture for a complex operationally diverse organisation
• Reviewed the governance and strategy for the management of corporate policies and information in a peak organisation representing all Australian states.

 Engagement and public education

• Delivered large scale public education policy on workplace safety
• Facilitated strategy planning sessions and engagement sessions with a diverse range of stakeholders.

 Policy and strategy

• Developed a performance model to inform the practices of a large scale operator in the not for profit sector with a distributed network of facilities to deliver better client care outcomes
• Provided strategic advice to a number of governing boards in the not for profit sector
• Worked with the executive team and a mix of consultants to evaluate and subsequently adjust the current services in a human services agency to meet a new policy and legislative framework
• Provided expert advice on legislative arrangements in metalliferous mining, health and safety and rural work conditions.

• Grad Diploma (with merit) of Public Administration, Universtiy of Sydney
• Qualified workplace trainer and assessor and is accredited to use the Organisational Effectiveness Profile (OEP) Survey Tool.

Past employment

Maryann has worked in senior roles in government across the transport, human services, arts and culture, sport and recreation and central government portfolios. She served as a member of the whole‑of‑government advisory group for corporate and shared services reform across the NSW public sector. She was responsible for the establishment of one of the new super departments in NSW. Maryann was Director of Organisational Reform for Communities NSW before Nous.

Interests

I have a keen interest in sport, education and community engagement.  I enjoy continually learning both formally and in a self-directed manner. With a keen interest in literature and politics, I spend my spare time gravitating towards the natural environment to recharge my batteries.
