Norman has spent many exciting years as a senior manager in utilities, telecommunications and transport companies, as well as being a consultant to both public and private sector organisations. He is an advocate of smart transport solutions and is a former president of the industry association Intelligent Transport Systems, Australia.
Project experience
Strategy development – information management and technology
- Directed the development of information management technology strategy for the Department of Premier and Cabinet (Vic)
- Led the development of an information management technology plan and delivery framework for the Department of Treasury and Finance (Tas)
- Guided the internal team at the Australian Energy Markets Operator (AEMO) in the development of their first information technology strategic plan
- Led the development of an information management strategy for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Business and process transformation
- Led an overhaul of processes in a state enforcement authority for the end-to-end operations of the enforcement programs, defining new models for governance, business operations, technology application and organisation design
- Directed the delivery of similar review programs in neighbouring functions of the authority
- Directed the delivery of a workforce design and strategic workforce plan for a large federal government agency’s IT function
- Advised the Department of Transport (Vic) on the processes of achieving interoperability of electric vehicle charging-points, in support of their electric vehicle trial.
