Ric specialises in the development of business and technology strategies that work. He delivers strategies that push the boundaries of current thinking yet remain practical and actionable. Ric understands the unique challenges in creating highly functional organisations, particularly in distributed and diverse settings. He makes use of industry methodologies and standards combined with Nous originated frameworks to deliver outstanding results.
Ric has 20 years management and leadership experience in education, government, wholesale and distribution. He has a profound understanding of corporate information and technology management. Ric also contributes to and leads projects in the strategy, organisational capability and leadership development spaces.
Project experience
- designed and facilitated numerous strategic planning workshops with government agencies, not for profits and the private sector
- strategic and operational review of a large community service provider to improve financial sustainability and ability to deliver on its mission. The project led to a business turnaround with many efficiency and revenue opportunities identified and actioned
- service demand analysis for a large organisation with significant outsourcing and functionally distributed responsibilities leading to a sustained investment in service supply capability
- assessed the strategy execution performance of a large consulting engineering firm. The project resulted in the organisation acquiring a realistic understanding of its execution capability and a suite of initiatives to improve strategy execution
- reviewed the corporate social responsibility function of a major Australian bank. Identified a suite of initiatives to improve community contribution and recommend a set of actions to improve reporting quality, marketing and employee engagement.
- developed an information management strategy for central government agency. The project highlighted the requirement for improved IMT governance, clearer accountabilities and significant structural reform of the IMT function
- designed and implemented a major restructure of ICT function in a higher education institution resulting in sustained improvements in client satisfaction and experience
- reviewed the ICT function for a large research facility. Recommend a set of actions to build the capability of the ICT through stronger engagement with the organisation, enhanced governance and improved risk management.
- worked with government department to develop a workforce capability matrix and gap analysis. This work lead to a long term program of structural and cultural reform and significantly improved functional performance.

Past employment
Ric has worked as a CIO in the education sector and successfully started and exited two software development and consulting organisations. Prior to this, Ric built his career in business analysis, project and program management.
Interests
A keen yachtsman, Ric has competed at a national level in a wide variety of classes. Currently, Ric is content just to sail model yachts with his two year old son.
