Richard specialises and consults in the areas of people, organisational design, business strategy and governance. He is a very experienced facilitator and is highly regarded for his creative strategic thinking ability. Richard has a deep understanding of best practice knowledge in driving improved business performance through better engagement of people and use of information and uses this to help clients achieve superior results. He has strong experience at executive levels in both the private and public sectors, and brings this very practical experience to benefit clients in his consulting work at Nous.

Richard has worked extensively in the health, energy, automotive, telecommunications and IT industries - across both public and private sectors, with turnovers up to $A1 Bn, at regional and national levels.

Organisational reviews
- leadership of major organisational and strategic reviews
- leadership of planning and change management processes
- leadership and strategy development of major organisational change in industrially sensitive workplaces.
Strategic planning and governance reviews
- facilitation of major strategic and governance reviews involving board level evaluation and critical assessment of governance structures, processes, activities, charters and development workshops
- leadership of strategy development and planning
- facilitation of governance reviews and associated development for several professional organisations
- leadership of the highly successful Victorian Health Boards Governance Development Program, sponsored by Department of Health Victoria and delivered to all metropolitan/rural health services in Victoria.
Policy development and service delivery
- leadership of substantial projects to develop better ways to deliver services, including strategic options for remixing services and responding to policy shifts
- leadership of significant reviews and evaluation studies into provision of disability services, human service delivery and rural health services
- facilitation of a massive transformation to reshape service delivery for the largest not for profit aged care provider in NSW/ACT
- development of a new performance reporting system for small Victorian rural health services (working with Department of Human Services, CEOs and Board Chairs of around 30 health services).
Training needs and leadership development
- development and facilitation of innovative senior leadership development programs in the utilities, telecommunications, insurance and health sectors
- development of training needs analyses associated with large systems deployment in the telecommunications, health and justice sectors
- leadership of a large project for the NSW Government to scope and specify a new e-Recruitment system for deployment across the NSW Government sector.
Facilitation and stakeholder engagement
- extensive facilitation workshops with boards, as well as design of innovative governance development programs (including all learning materials related to governance practice)
- strong experience with complex stakeholder engagement where trust is paramount, including hospitals (e.g. RVEEH), health boards (e.g. Department of Human Services governance workshops), professional colleges (e.g. RANZCOG) and school leadership.

- Accredited tutor for the Australian Institute of Company Directors on their widely acknowledged and acclaimed Company Directors Course (CDC)

Past employment
Prior to Nous, Richard had established his own successful consulting practice (Humanwebs). He is a founding member of the Australian Corporate Citizenship Alliance and has served on several not-for-profit boards.
Interests
Interests and pursuits include sea kayaking, XC skiing, off-road camping, big RC gliders, the mandolin and travel. The latter has seen the Richard travel to France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, UK, USA, Vanuatu, New Zealand, Greece, Turkey, India and Egypt, Vietnam and Cambodia.
