$40 million in annual savings from shared utility approach to ICT infrastructure

The Office of the Chief Information Officer engaged Nous to develop a comprehensive ICT strategy covering 14 agencies with a three year implementation program.

Nous reviewed all existing agency ICT plans and identified more than 400 concurrent projects. Nous categorised these projects into seven technology classes. In each class we identified the most effective 'enterprise' (organisational span of governance) for strategic management of ICT investment. We developed a business case that identified annual savings of more than $40 million from a shared utility approach to ICT infrastructure.

The strategy was presented to the Victorian Government's ICT Policy Committee and formally adopted. Implementation of the Nous recommendations was the largest component of the Victorian Government's 2007 Efficient Government initiative.
