Creation of national VET sector benefits from strategic information management

Following the merger of the Australian National Training Authority into the Australian Department of Education Science and Technology, potential synergies in information management for the Vocational Education and Training sector were identified.

DEST engaged Nous to develop an ICT strategy for the VET groups in the department. Nous rigorously analysed and consulted with VET stakeholders in all jurisdictions to develop a coherent strategy.

The Nous strategy encompassed the complex mix of DEST roles (national policy leader, funder, facilitator and regulator) and diversity of VET stakeholders. It prioritised actions that balanced short-term benefits with longer term changes to position DEST for strategic management of VET information to support evidence based policy and funding decisions. The Nous strategy was approved for implementation by DEST.
