Facilitation of Skills Australia's Industry Skills Council Forums

Skills Australia was established by the new Australian Government in 2008 to provide expert and independent advice on Australia’s workforce skills needs. Skills Australia engaged Nous to facilitate a series of forums with the Industry Skills Councils (ISCs). The forums were designed to assist the Australian Government allocate additional training places.

The forums examined the dimension and reasons behind the labour and skills shortages, the consequences of those shortages, what industry was doing to respond and the role governments could play to assist industry. Nous drew together the information gathered across the forums in a report to Skills Australia.

The report outlined the key findings from the forums, provided a framework to assist Skills Australia understand the nature of the skills challenge, and provided a series of recommendations designed to help Skills Australia achieve its mandate and the Australian Government fulfil its wider skills and training objectives.
