Reducing future risk of bushfires from rural power lines

The Victorian Department of Primary Industries engaged Nous to prepare and facilitate a national workshop on options to reduce fire risks associated with rural electricity supply. Nous produced an information paper proposing innovative new frameworks for analysis of fire risks and options to reduce them. The workshop held in April 2010 was attended by more than 40 representatives of communities (including bushfire affected communities), consumers, electrical safety regulators, the industry’s economic regulator, policy makers and electricity distributors. The workshop report was provided to the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission. Workshop participants expressed their appreciation of the design and facilitation of the workshop to deliver the most productive outcome possible.
