Strengthened capability and structural accountability for the delivery IT services

A major regulator of the utilities and environment sector engaged Nous to investigate the potential impact of these changes on the IT function. The organisation was facing a three to five year period of heightened change, characterised by a more dynamic industry reform environment, a series of large projects and greater need to manage reputation risk.

This project investigated the structure, capability, processes and accountability mechanisms of the IT function. A key challenge was the size of the function, which limited the scope of options for improvement. Following a desktop review and interviews and workshops, Nous delivered three sets of recommendations to enhance the IT function: strengthen capability in strategic thinking, establish rigorous structures to assess and deliver investment in IT and improve key IT processes.

These recommendations were accepted by the Steering Committee and subsequently presented to the Chairman of the Board prior to implementation.
