Business capacity of the adult community education sector improved

A state government initiative to reform the funding environment for the adult community education (ACE) was implemented in 2009 through 2010. The new approach meant ACE organisations would move from guaranteed funding to demand based funding where the funds followed the student. To equip providers with the necessary skills in attracting and retaining students and running a sustainable enterprise, the Dept. of Planning and Community Development (Vic) engaged Nous to build the business capacity of adult education providers within Victoria.

We established the need to develop strategic planning, marketing and financial skills across the sector and delivered a series of professional development workshops for ACE providers to meet these needs. We also managed a program of capacity building grants aimed at providing financial assistance to ACE organisations as they readied themselves for the changed funding environment.
