Climate change strategy prepares network operator for the future

A major energy transmission network operator engaged Nous to facilitate the development of a coherent whole-of-company strategy that responded to the potentially profound changes in Australia's regulatory and policy framework driven by climate change issues. The operator faced a number of complex and multi-faceted challenges: changes in demand and pricing resulting from a carbon emission trading scheme, renewable energy targets and energy efficiency programs; and risks associated with the direct exposure of its assets to increasing cases of extreme weather events and climate change. These challenges also presented considerable opportunities for them in non traditional areas as the national economy transformed to a low carbon future.
