International business banking strategy for a major bank

A major Australian bank sought a strategy to drive growth in their overseas operations. Nous was engaged to work with the business banking strategy team to analyse the opportunities and risks of different approaches to increase international business banking activities.

The work modelled Australia's trade and investment flows and likely organic international growth in international business banking services, within Australia and for overseas markets. The team modelled different configurations of international activity for the bank and the pros and cons of each.

Nous' recommendations formed a key component of the bank's overall Asia and international strategy. Nous advised that rather than adopt a full regional strategy, it would be better to pursue a niche strategy in selected international markets that would align with the needs of the existing customer base.
