Long-term infrastructure planning to support national energy markets

Nous was engaged by the Victorian Energy Networks Corporation (VENCorp)to produce the first ground-breaking long-term planning document for energy infrastructure (gas and electricity) to support national energy markets for the next 25 years. Launched by the Victorian Minister in late 2005, VENCorp's Vision 2030 gained immediate national and international recognition as a valuable innovative model for planning Australia's privatised competitive energy sector.

Nous delivered the first strategic analysis of long term uncertainties in supply, demand, regulatory regime and sector resources and implications for required investments in Victoria's energy transmission infrastructure. Nous' open, sensitive consultative process was been lauded by industry figures as 'excellent'. In 2009, Nous was re-engaged by VENCorp to produce an update of the original Vision 2030. Nous delivered completely new strategic analysis of all the major developments in the intervening period.

Like the original, the update was positively received by governments and the industry.
