Management and leadership skill development enables EL2s to deliver enduring change

The Department of Finance and Deregulation (Finance) engaged Nous to design and deliver two leadership and management programs for its future leaders.

The programs focused on building core management and leadership skills, with a strong emphasis on self awareness, team leadership and performance management. The first program, Influencing and Negotiating in Finance, targeted experienced EL2 officers. It was designed to re-energise participants around their leadership role and to build self awareness, influencing and negotiation skills to enable them to achieve in their current roles and to assist progression to a senior executive level. The second program, Leading and Managing in Finance, focused on newly appointed EL2 officers who were new to people management roles.

 Both programs have produced substantial and enduring change. Evaluations over four years reveal participants are consistently transferring their learning back into the organisation and view the program as an excellent investment by Finance.
