Metropolitan health service's board effectiveness improved

A major metropolitan health services organisation engaged Nous to complete a performance assessment for the board to assist directors to strengthen their governance and leadership.

Throughout the project Nous worked closely with the chairman. We conducted interviews, focus groups and surveys with directors and the senior executive team to better gauge the board's performance and develop recommendations for improvement. Recommendations included KPIs for the board and individual directors, professional development plans for directors, and a revised board agenda and meeting timetable to emphasise strategic leadership above operational issues.

Nous' recommendations were unanimously accepted and implemented by the board.
