Options developed to build stronger inter-governmental relationships

Nous worked with the Strategy and Delivery Division within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet over an intense six week period to develop options to build stronger relationships between federal and local governments.

The project explored the variability in financial and service delivery drivers across the 565 local governments within the context of current funding arrangements, cross-government priorities and community needs. Nous contributed our knowledge derived from working across tiers of government and across portfolios within an integrated team of PMC staff and secondees from the Productivity Commission, and Human Services and Infrastructure departments.

 The analysis and short and medium policy options developed by the team were presented to the Prime Minister, a number of senior Ministers and senior officials representing major departments, to inform high level decision making.
