Stakeholder engagement activity report, strategy and capability plan

The Health Reform Transition Office within the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) engaged Nous to review the amount and quality of health reform stakeholder engagement activities completed - between April 2010 and June 2011 - and to use key insights from the review to inform the development of a stakeholder engagement strategy for the remainder of 2011. Nous also developed a capability plan to guide the implementation of the strategy and to improve DoHA's internal communication and coordination processes.

To understand the scope, nature and quality of stakeholder engagements undertaken by DoHA since April 2010 Nous interviewed a representative sample of stakeholders in the following five categories: consumers, health professionals, health service administrators and organisations, state and territory government representatives and DoHA Divisional representatives. This data, along with inputs from responsible areas within DoHA, were compiled using a stakeholder engagement activity consolidation tool. Nous assessed the activities completed to date and identified key areas to improve future stakeholder engagement. These improvement areas, reframed as strategy priority areas, were subsequently addressed in the proposed stakeholder engagement strategy.

The stakeholder engagement strategy, stakeholder engagement review and capability plan were well-received by the Health Reform Transition Office and they are now progressing the implementation of our recommendations.
