Strategic workforce plan to inform recruitment business case

This healthcare authority commenced in 2006 to coordinate and fund the medical and care requirements of individuals involved in motor vehicle accidents in ther state. Given the rapid growth in the number of participants (having started with none and increasing by approximate 160 per annum) the authority needed to develop a five-year workforce plan to assist it in the development of a business case for forward recruitment for the core roles (coordinators and service development & review officers).

Through a series of interviews and workshops Nous developed a number of hypotheses on the drivers of workloads for the two core roles, and how these may change over time. These hypotheses were then tested using data from the case management systems. Nous then agreed a set of assumptions with the authority on the number of coordinators and service development and review officers required for each participant in the future. These assumptions allowed Nous to model potential workforce requirements.

Nous also developed a number of high level alternative organisational structures, providing the authority test changes in role design and team design as the organisation became larger.
